Doug is an internationally-published photographer based in Los Angeles.

After earning a Journalism degree from the University of Washington, Doug set up shop in Tokyo (then later Taipei) where his clients included the American Embassy, Coca Cola, Boeing, and China Airlines among others. In addition to honing his photography skills, Doug learned to speak both Japanese and Chinese. He returned to Seattle, where he wrote and published a book about his experience in Asia. Once again it was back to school to earn an additional degree in commercial photography where he was awarded the Glazier’s Scholarship, the program’s highest honor.

Doug has always preferred photographing people and events, so weddings were a natural direction for him.

Moments Doug notes, are the key to capturing weddings:

"Overall, rather than just pose people for portraits, I’m looking for moments, moments that define the day, the people, and the place. Formal group shots are done in a relaxed, quick, and simple manner. For most of the day I’m shooting truly as a photojournalist, with subjects completely unaware of the camera."

The culmination of formal study, apprenticeships, and international experience show not only in his portfolio, but in the way he handles himself on the job; easily adapting to any situation, staying low-key and getting along well with people from all cultures.
